The Panchavati Old Age Home, run by Matru Sewa Sangh, Nagpur, inaugurated four newly furnished cottages on December 8, 2024. These cottages will provide a new shelter to 16 residents. Matru Sewa Sangh is a pioneering institution that has been working in the field of maternity and healthcare for 104 years. Among its many projects, the Panchavati Old Age Home is one of the most significant.

This old age home was established with the initiative of Padma Shri Kamalatai Hospet for the senior lifelong associates of Matru Sewa Sangh. The construction of the new cottages was made possible through the generous contribution of Dr. Neelkanth Nimdeokar. The cottages were inaugurated by Swami Tanisthanand Maharaj of Shri Ramakrishna Mission Math, Nagpur.

The event's esteemed guests included renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Prafulla Mokadam and donor Dr. Neelkanth Nimdeokar. Office bearers of Matru Sewa Sangh were also present on this occasion. The program was anchored by Dr. Vrushali Deshpande, with an introductory address by Dr. Rashmi Bhave, and a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Lata Deshmukh.

Dr. Prafulla Mokadam highlighted his emotional connection with Matru Sewa Sangh and praised the organization’s social work. He stated, "I was born in this institution’s maternity home, and thus, my bond with the Matru Sewa Sangh is deeply personal."

Dr. Neelkanth Nimdeokar expressed his gratitude towards five important women in his life—his mother, aunt, two sisters-in-law, and wife—and dedicated this philanthropic effort to them. He remarked, "To donate, one needs willpower, not wealth."

Swami Tanisthanand Maharaj appreciated the work of Matru Sewa Sangh while quoting the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. He said, "Initiatives like these fulfill the vision of the India that Swami Vivekananda dreamed of."

This inauguration has infused new energy into the work of Panchavati Old Age Home and affirmed the commitment to provide better facilities for the elderly.
